First you have to know that: We use the simple past to describe actions and events that happened in the past. - Primero tienes que saber que: Utilizamos el pasado simple para describir acciones o eventos que ocurrieron en el pasado.
- Affirmative sentences. - Oraciones afirmativas * :) + past verb + comp. *
- I traveled to Cancun last year. - Yo viaje a Cancun el año pasado.
- She listened music yesterday. - Ella escuchó musica ayer.
- They played minecraft last week. - Ellos jugaron minecraft la semana pasada.
- Negative sentences. - Oraciones negativas * :) + didn't + verb + comp. *
- I didn’t play video games. - Yo no jugué video juegos.
- He didn’t visit his grandparents. - El no visitó a sus abuelos.
- We didn’t clean their bedroom. - Nosotros no limpiamos nuestra recamara.
It is important you notice that there are two kind of verbs: regular and irregular. Today we are going to know about regular verbs. - Es importante que notes que hay dos tipo de verbos: regulares e irregulares. Hoy vamos a conocer sobre los verbos regulares.
Regular past simple verbs are formed by adding -ed to the infinitive: - Los verbos regulares en pasado se forman agregando -ed al infinitivo:

- Jump - Jumped
There are some spelling rules: - Hay algunas reglas gramaticales:
If a verb ends in -e, you add -d. - Si el verbo termina en -e, agrega -d
- Like - Liked
- Escape - Escaped
If a verb ends in a vowel and a consonant, the consonant is usually doubled before -ed. - Si el verbo termina en vocal y consonante, usualmente la consonante se duplica antes de agregar -ed
- Stop - Stopped
- Plan - Planned
If a verb ends in consonant and -y, you take off the y and add -ied. - Si el verbo termina en consonante e -y. quita la -y y agrega -ied
- Try - Tried
- Cry - Cried
But if the word ends in a vowel and -y, you add -ed. - Pero si el verbo termina en vocal e -y, solo agrega -ed
- Play - Played
- Enjoy - Enjoyed
